Heluhelu Quiz Bowl
The Heluhelu Quiz Bowl competition is an annual reading competition open to grades 4-7, and was created to promote literacy and diversity in young adult literature. Each year the students are provided a list of 30 books, and they spend the year reading and collaborating to prepare themselves for the annual Quiz Bowl, which is hosted by an esteemed author of one of the selected titles.
Our 24/25 Quiz Bowl team has started their practices with weekly lunch meetings! Practices will continue into the spring, when they will compete at the 2025 Heluhelu Quiz Bowl held at Kamehameha Schools. This yearʻs Quiz Master will be Christina Soontornvat, a 3-time Newbery Honor recipient and the author of the Last Mapmaker, All Thirteen, and A Wish in the Dark.
